The churches-administration of Lalibela changed the entrance
fee recently. Now a tourist pay 50 USD to see the rock hewn churches.
Before January 9th it was 350 Ethiopian Birr or less than 20 USD.
I spoke with 2 young tourists from Holland and with Mekonen
Gebremeskal who was in this case the spokesman from Lalibela Churches.
The report is a short illustration of the discussion going
on in Lalibela. In town many people talk about the introduction of this 50 USD
entrance fee. There were several discussions between Church, guides, hotels
and the Lalibela citycouncil.
